India Tour To West Indies:
This July 2016 is going to be very exciting for Cricket fans and cricket lovers as the Indian Cricket Team is going to tour West Indies for the next 7 weeks. The tour is going to start by 6th July 2016. Team India will play two practice matches and then 4 test matches. The first practice matches will be played on 6th of July 2016 and the second on 14th July. The very first Test Match will be played on 21st July 2016 second on 30th July, third on 9th August and fourth on 18th August 2016 respectively.
The matches are going to be very interesting as India play against the West Indies who recently won the ICC World T20 World Cup, but can the West Indies beat India in the Test format too?
A brief look at the past record of India Touring West Indies.
India toured West Indies in 2011 which included 3 test match series and India won the series by 1-0. In a total, India have played total 45 test matches against Caribbean and out of which India have won 5 matches losing 16 and 24 matches were drawn.
According to reports all the venues are ready to welcome team India in July for the series of 4 test matches. The tour was supposed to be on hold due to CPL (Caribbean Premier League) matches were scheduled in the same period, but now all the venues are free during the touring period.
What will be the Indian Squad for the tour?
There are no major changes in the Squad except for a new addition of Shardul Thakur (Mumbai Ranji Player), the team is going to be majorly similar which played against South Africa last year.
Virat Kohli (c),
Wriddhiman Saha (wk),
It has also been announced by BCCI that the coach for the Indian Cricket Team will be announced at the end of June for the Tour Of India to West Indies.
This time it is going to be fun watching India after 5 years in West Indies. Who do you think will emerge victorious, Team India's strong batting line-up or Team West Indies Fast Pace Bowling Attack?
23rd June 2013, Edgbaston - Birmingham. England v India, ICC Champions Trophy 2013 - Final. It was a rainy day at Birmingham so the match was reduced to 20 overs each side. England won the toss and elected to field first. India scored only 129 runs, 43 was the highest runs scored by an Indian Batsman and it was Virat Kohli. England's inning did not start well, they lost 4 wickets for 46 runs. Then it was Ravi Bopara's and Eoin Morgan's show, they played exceptionally good. Ishant Sharma picked both Bopara and Morgan's wicket, both of them got out on 110 (Team Total) and both the time R. Ashwin was the man who took the catch. The game was on till the last bowl, England required 6 runs in 1 bowl. But it was India’s day and India won by 5 runs. India lifted the champions trophy after 11 years. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded Man of the Series.
In June, 2017 the Champions Trophy is again going to be held in England. And yet again India and Pakistan are there in same group, group “B”. In 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan was also there in the same group, and they played a group stage match on 15 June 2013. The match was held at Edgbaston – Birmingham. Result was, India won by 8 wickets. After 4 years both of them will meet at the same venue. 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Match 4 is between India and Pakistan on June 4th at Edgbaston – Birmingham. "No doubt, we try to put India versus Pakistan in our event," said ICC chief executive Dave Richardson, according to a report in 'The Telegraph'. The main reason behind this, is Popularity for this match. India vs Pakistan is always a High drama and High entertainment game in the history of cricket. It was, it is and it will be a game that every Indian waits for. India and Pakistan met 3 times in the Champions Trophy tournament, out of three India has won 1 match and Pakistan has won 2 matches. So India have a chance to level this record on June 4, 2017. Last time when this two cricketing giants played each other in ICC tournament on 19 March, 2016 in 2016 ICC World Twenty-20 at Eden Garden. India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets.
India enter as a defending champions in 2017 Champions Trophy Tournament. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa are in Group “B”. Whereas Australia, Bangladesh, England and New Zealand are in Group “A”. Venues are Edgbaston – Birmingham, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff and The Oval, London. India and Australia are most successful teams in ICC Champions Trophy with 2 titles each.
It is the fifth tournament in series where India and Pakistan meet in the group stage. Cricket matches between India and Pakistan attract huge television audiences, sometimes around one billion.
So, I am excited for this match, after all it is India vs. Pakistan in ICC tournament. Both the teams will get “Mauka- Mauka” to celebrate their victory over cricketing arch-rivals. I wish good luck to both the teams for the ICC Champions Trophy and future games.
