India-vs-Pakistan-ICC-Champions-Trophy-2017

23rd June 2013, Edgbaston - Birmingham. England v India, ICC Champions Trophy 2013 - Final. It was a rainy day at Birmingham so the match was reduced to 20 overs each side. England won the toss and elected to field first. India scored only 129 runs, 43 was the highest runs scored by an Indian Batsman and it was Virat Kohli. England's inning did not start well, they lost 4 wickets for 46 runs. Then it was Ravi Bopara's and Eoin Morgan's show, they played exceptionally good. Ishant Sharma picked both Bopara and Morgan's wicket, both of them got out on 110 (Team Total) and both the time R. Ashwin was the man who took the catch. The game was on till the last bowl, England required 6 runs in 1 bowl. But it was India’s day and India won by 5 runs. India lifted the champions trophy after 11 years. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded Man of the Series.

In June, 2017 the Champions Trophy is again going to be held in England. And yet again India and Pakistan are there in same group, group “B”. In 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan was also there in the same group, and they played a group stage match on 15 June 2013. The match was held at Edgbaston – Birmingham. Result was, India won by 8 wickets. After 4 years both of them will meet at the same venue. 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Match 4 is between India and Pakistan on June 4th at Edgbaston – Birmingham. "No doubt, we try to put India versus Pakistan in our event," said ICC chief executive Dave Richardson, according to a report in 'The Telegraph'. The main reason behind this, is Popularity for this match. India vs Pakistan is always a High drama and High entertainment game in the history of cricket. It was, it is and it will be a game that every Indian waits for. India and Pakistan met 3 times in the Champions Trophy tournament, out of three India has won 1 match and Pakistan  has won 2 matches. So India have a chance to level this record on June 4, 2017.  Last time when this two cricketing giants played each other in ICC tournament on 19 March, 2016 in 2016 ICC World Twenty-20 at Eden Garden. India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets.

India-vs-Pakistan-ICC-World-Cup-2016

India enter as a defending champions in 2017 Champions Trophy Tournament. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa are in Group “B”. Whereas Australia, Bangladesh, England and New Zealand are in Group “A”. Venues are Edgbaston – Birmingham, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff and The Oval, London. India and Australia are most successful teams in ICC Champions Trophy with 2 titles each.

It is the fifth tournament in series where India and Pakistan meet in the group stage. Cricket matches between India and Pakistan attract huge television audiences, sometimes around one billion.

So, I am excited for this match, after all it is India vs. Pakistan in ICC tournament. Both the teams will get “Mauka- Mauka” to celebrate their victory over cricketing arch-rivals. I wish good luck to both the teams for the ICC Champions Trophy and future games.
