MATCH REVIEW: SRH Win with Yuvraj 62 and Henriques 52 - IPL 2017 Match 1 Review SRH vs RCB
I was excited to watch the 1st match of IPL 10. SRH had an emotional edge as they had won the IPL 9 and now facing the same RCB at home ground in Hyderabad. After watching the match, I will give SRH 9/10 and RCB 6/10. SRH 207/4 in 20 overs won by 35. RCB were 174/10 in 19.4 overs.
The man of the Match was Yuvraj Singh. According to me, the efforts of Ben-cutting made an impact at the right times for SRH by bowling 10 dot balls in 3.4 over. when Gayle was on strike he tried hitting big shots but Ben Cutting bowled super.
This is my list Best Moments of the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Match. David Warner takes off with big hits of 2 fours and a sixer, then Aniket Chaudhary got this wicket caught at backward point. Warner did his best as captain, planning the wicket of Gayle in 2nd He took 3 important catches while fielding. Shikhar Dhawan took on the bowlers and attacked with 5 fours scoring 40 in 31 alongside was Moses Henriques who smashed 52 runs in 37 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixers. Henriques also took 2 catches. Then came YUVRAJ SINGH – Man of the Match scoring 62 runs in 27 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixers, Yuvraj also took 2 catches while fielding. Deepak Hooda played some unorthodox shots before getting out for 16(12) while Ben Cutting finished the SRH batting innings strongly scoring 16 runs in balls.
RCB had some catching chances that they did not attempt and 2 big catch drops that saved Yuvraj and Henriques. The miss-fields and drop-catches caused more pressure on RCB when they came to bat. Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 207/4 in 20 over with a run rate of 10.35 which was a good target.
Royal Challengers Bangalore did have the batsmen to chase 207 in 20 overs. Chris Gayle, Travis Head, Kedar Jadhav had to perform for RCB, just like Shikhar, Warner and Henriques played for SRH.
Coming to chase the score Royal Challengers Bangalore got a steady start. Chris Gayle scored 32(21) and Mandeep Singh 24(16)
Rashid Khan the spinner from Afghanistan got the wicket of Mandeep Singh who was bowled. Rashid also took the wicket of Travis Head caught by Yuvraj Singh.
David Warner put on Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ben Cutting again to restrict the runs. Royal Challengers still had Kedar Jadhav and Shane Watson as a big scorer to win the match. Kedar Jadhav was playing well on 31 runs in 16 balls with 4 fours and 1 sixes, when Ben Cutting had a direct throw on the stumps from the outfield and getting him Run Out. Watson got 22 in 17 balls.
Ashish Nehra took 2 wickets – Watson and Arvind, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wicket – S Binny and Tymal Mills. Deepak Hooda got the critical wicket of Gayle in the beginning. Rashid took 2 wickets – Mandeep and Travis.
Royal Challengers top order batsmen all have a good start, but no one could play till the end. The last 4 wickets didn’t add many runs as the good fielding and high required run rate had RCB in pressure.
I would say, Sunrisers Hyderabad won with an all-around performance in batting, bowling, and fielding. Royal Challengers Bangalore fielding was sloppy while saving runs, did overthrows and drop catches. The other side, SRH did good fielding in the outfield, and also took all the important catches with amazing runouts from Ben Cutting and Chris Jordan (substitute).
I was happy to see the match as some good cricket was played by SRH, RCB fell short and am sure will come back strongly in next match.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will next play Delhi Daredevils on 8 April.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next play Gujrat Lions 9 April.
I am waiting to see will RCB attack DD now or will play it safe. SRH will be confident and be thinking to use Rashid again or bring in Mustafizur Rahman.
