Article

Vishal Yadav interviewed Mr.Ankit Bansal and below given is a brief introduction about the same. Ankit Bansal previously played for Combatant Cricket Club based in Delhi. He is no more associated with the Combatant Cricket Club and is now a part of a new Cricket Club. Read what he has to say about Combatant Cricket Club. Global Cricket Community would like to wish all the success to Ankit and his new team.

1. What is the idea behind Combatant Cricket Club Delhi and a brief introduction about this club?

Combatant cricket club is a group of committed cricket enthusiasts. It was formed so that we could fulfill our own passion and could also help others who wish to play cricket by providing them an opportunity to join us and relive their dream.

2. How is Ankit Bansal helping promote cricket amongst his friends and colleagues?

I have made a facebook page to promote our club and since the time it got live, I have received a very good response and have successfully got good players associated with the club. I have also been able to build a network with different kind of people who are doing something linked to cricket, be it be equipment, organizing matches, teams etc which has helped our club a lot.

3. When and how did you start this club?

This club was formed around February 2014 by Subhash Nautiyal and Manoj Bist. Both of them shared a vision of bringing up a team that would start from playing friendly matches and then gradually play bigger leagues/tournaments etc. They were then joined by individuals who shared a same passion and it led to Combatant Cricket Club which currently has 15 permanent members.

4. What are you and your club looking forward to, as improvements in the club?

All the members are looking to work harder on their fitness. They want to improve in all aspects whether its batting, bowling, fielding. The club is also in process of making a code of conduct that will bind all members and that will help in making all more disciplined.

5. Mention about your achievements (A proof of the same is expected).

The biggest achievement since I have started playing for the club is my maiden century which to some extent led us to take the match out of reach of the opposition. The other one is our team’s win over Diwan Cricket Club in the last over. It was special as we were chasing a big total and due to verbal exchanges by the opposition and controversial umpiring decisions, a win meant a lot for the team as it boosted the morale of each member.

6. What is the future of Combatant Cricket Club Delhi, according to you and your team.

The future looks very promising as more and more players are coming in contact who wish to join us. We wish to grow our club and soon start playing bigger tournaments. We want to reach at a level when we will be able to play out of Delhi too.

7. Favorite moment encountered so far.

Nail biting last over win over Diwan Cricket Club on 21st December 2014.

It was Sandeep Khaleshwal’s last match with the team. I want to appreciate Sandeep Khaleshwal for the hard work. It was his dedication towards cricket which made him reach the ground or practice sessions always and on-time. His enthusiasm and motivation is praise-worthy. It’s really commendable to see how he organized his time to reach practice sessions to bowl at the batsmen so that they could get good batting practice, help them with knocking sessions. One habit of his which I shall never f...

In a match where Combatants looked to square a two-match series against Glorious Cricket Club, playing against their B-team: CBRE on 8th February 2015, Combatants were outplayed by CBRE in all departments. The margin of defeat (50 runs) was quite substantial.
