Ellerslie Cricket Club is based in Ellerslie, Auckland. Ellerslies Cricket Club was founded in early 1920’s playing in Auckland city and suburban competitions. Club had done exceptionally well during formation of the club. In early 1950 and 60’s the club had two Saturday teams plus a junior team playing in the Auckland Cricket Association (ACA) with the Eastern district Association. The Club also had a Social Sunday Team. During 1970’s the club won major club championships with 4 or more teams. The year 1980 was the turning point for the club.

The Club had won: 2nd in the Major Club Championship, 1st in the HEC MEMORIAL ROSEBOWL, 3rd Grade won THE OPOTIKI CUP, 4th and one day 1 pennant winners for 1st round win and LION BREWERIES CUP.

Club also produced National and first class cricket players for New Zealand national team. I have listed down few players below:

Current Status of the club:

Ellerslie Cricket Club has 9 senior men’s side and one Ladies side and a roster of over 120 Junior players. Clubs 1st XI play in the men’s 1st Grade competition. Clubs runs junior Cricket from the age group 1 to under 18.


Men’s Senior Cricket: Club plays major formats of the cricket such as Two day cricket, One Day Cricket, T20 cricket and twilight.

Men’s Two day: Currently the club has 4 grade teams in "Two day Cricket" who play Two day matches for the club

  • Premier
  • Premier Reserve
  • Senior A
  • Senior C

Mr. Anthony Bowler is the current premier coach.

Men’s One day: Ellerslies Cricket Club has a several teams in one day grades which play 40 over matches.

Men’s T20: Club also assigned some teams who are participating in various T20 games organised by the clubs.

Twilight: Club not only focuses on the clubs players, but there are cricket lovers are not be able to play cricket due to their work commitments. For them, the club arranges 8 a side twilight cricket competition on Wednesday evening.     

Women’s Cricket:
It is difficult to get ladies team for the club but due to club efforts and hard wok they have been successfully managing a ladies team who plays in the top Auckland grade and competitive matches.

  • Central District Rep Cricket
  • Kohi Cup
  • Junior 6-A-Side etc.
