Matching Green Cricket Club is based in Essex, United Kingdom. Cricket has been played there since 1830 and the club played their first match in the year 1862 against Harlow. Since then the club has grown so quickly and played many tournaments in past 100 years. The club used to play friendly cricket matches but since 1995 the club have started looking at cricket as a career and future.
Currently, the club has built their own pavilion and have added many more facilities to the club such as changing rooms, individual showers for each teams more space for tea storage, for all the equipment and a fantastic building which can serve the club well for the next 50 years.

Current Squad and Other Teams:

Currently the club has a strong growth in the players and in a number of teams. The club caters to 3 senior men’s teams and 4 Junior teams. Mainly:

  • Matching green 1st XI (Saturday XI)
  • Matching Green 2nd XI (Saturday XI)
  • Matching Green 3rd XI (Sunday XI)

Two Saturday XI teams playing in the Herts & Essex Cricket Leagues and Sunday XI play friendly matches. The club also plays Midweek Cricket which includes T20 League Cup and Davis Cup.

Junior Section:

  • Matching Green Under 13
  • Matching Green Under 12
  • Matching Green under 11
  • Matching Green Under 9

Club also promotes Junior Cricket and has played various tournaments and league matches held in a state such as Under 13 Indoor League, Under 13 league, HECC League Cup, Under 11 League matches.

The Junior team's practice session is conducted on every Friday from 6 pm onwards. The junior teams are divided into 4 Groups Red Group, Yellow Group, Green Group, Blue Group and according to the group they conduct the practice sessions.

Playing Opportunities:
The club has focused on providing playing opportunity for the players to improve the skills and level of cricket in the players. The club provides 27 matches (On an Average) to each teams in every cricket playing season.

  • Herts & Essex Cricket Leagues - League Champion: 2013, 2015 and Division 2 Winner : 2011
  • Boardman’s Davis Cup - Runners Up : 2014, 2015 and Winner : 1998
  • Essex club Indoor Championship -   Runners up: 2011
  • West Essex Indoor Cricket League - Winner : 2011
  • The Villagers Cup - Winner : 2012, 2011
