Cricket Structure and Culture:
The official cricket body of Belgian cricket is BCF - Belgian Cricket Federation. BCF is an Associate Member since 2005 of ICC - International Cricket Council and also the founding member of European Cricket Council. Recent research has again indicated that the sport of cricket may well have begun in Flanders, the northern part of what is now Belgium. Beginning in the 14th century, Flemish weavers and shepherds emigrated to southern England and are believed to have taken cricket with them. Flemish 'creckettes' and 'weckettes' are mentioned in the south of England in the mid-16th century, a time which coincides with a painting by the Flemish master Pieter Breugel The Elder which is said to show an early form of the game.
Cricket is getting popular in Belgium and cricket is played regularly at the club level, regional and national level. Belgium cricket team has been leading in World Cricket League and also hosting many tournaments for the European country teams.

Arcadians Cricket Club Ghent
The name is derived from the ancient Greek province of Arcadia. The province’s mountains and sparse population of shepherds later caused the word Arcadia to develop into a poetic byword for an idyllic vision of unspoiled wilderness. The inhabitants were often regarded as having continued to live after the manner of the Golden Age, living close to nature, uncorrupted by civilization, and virtuous. In an Utopian vision, Arcadia is associated with bountiful natural splendor and harmony. So it is perhaps no coincidence that cricket was first played by Flemish shepherds and weavers, immigrating to Surrey and Kent in the 13th century (which is now a proven fact!).
Brugge Cricket Club (BCC)
Brugge has probably the best ground and facilities in Belgium from 2014 onwards. The city administration has developed a dedicated Cricket facility for the clubs and schools in neighbourhood. They also plan to install the sightscreens at each end and develop further their Pavilion. The ground facility is equipped with a sitting area and changing rooms, toilets and showers. The ground is situated at Brugge on the site of the “Sports” complex. Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/BruggeCricketClub
Meise Wolverine Cricket Club
The Meise Wolverines Cricket Club is a young dynamic cricket club that focuses on boys and girls aged 8 who really want to taste the cricket. Cricket in Flanders is still fairly new, but in Meise / Wolvertem we are already a few years in organizing introductory and more advanced sessions. This is done in cooperation with the various schools of Meise and SPOVA . The growing success of the youth was the time ripe for the creation of a real cricket club. So we can bring more structure in the youth and we can give children the best possible chance to grow in the cricket. Website: http://www.meise-wolverines.be/
